What you get out of it

Four things change when inquiries arrive as a form instead of a message. None of them needs a marketing claim to be true.

Nothing gets lost

Inquiries arrive by email, phone, social messages and in person, and none of those is a list. A form is the one route that arrives as a record, so the question is never whether you missed one.

Answers you can compare

The same questions, asked the same way, every time. That is what lets you sort them, filter them, export them to a spreadsheet, and put an owner and a status on each one.

Fewer messages back and forth

The details you would have had to ask for anyway are asked once, up front. A quote request that arrives with the budget and the deadline already in it does not cost you a day of emails.

You find out what people want

A hundred answers to the same question show a pattern. If most people picking your quote form choose one budget bracket, that is your business telling you something you can act on.

Where your answers are kept

If you collect personal details from people in the UK or the EU, where those details are stored is your responsibility, not just ours. Here is what we can tell you plainly.

Stored in Europe

Submissions are held in a database in London, and the servers that receive them run in London and Frankfurt. Uploaded files are stored in London. Nothing is moved to another region to be processed.

You decide how long to keep it

Set a retention period per form and older submissions are deleted automatically. Keeping personal data no longer than you need it is what the UK and EU rules ask for, and this is the setting that does it.

Delete an answer, or the whole account

If someone asks you to remove their details, you can delete that submission. You can also close your account and take everything with it. Export to a spreadsheet whenever you want, so leaving is never blocked by us holding your data.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data or the answers people give you, and we do not use them to advertise to anyone. We are not going to show you a compliance badge either: no certificate exists that makes a form lawful, and the work that does is yours and ours together.

What happens to spam

A hidden field turns bots away, and a message that reads like spam or an unsolicited pitch is held where you can still find it, rather than lost or sitting in your inbox with the messages you actually want.

A hidden field catches bots

Every form has a field a person never sees, and a bot that fills in everything on a page fills that in too. We do not save what it sent, and we also limit how many times one source can submit in a row.

Messages are read before they reach you

We look at what someone typed for the signs of link spam, or of a stranger offering you their own services rather than asking for yours. This runs on every submission with a message field, and a short answer to an ordinary question is never held for it.

Suspected spam and sales pitches get their own tab

A held message stays out of your inbox by default, and it stays somewhere you can read it. Open a form's Submissions tab and Suspected spam and Sales pitches sit there as their own views. Find one that looks like a real message and one click moves it back to where your real messages are.

Hide them from your lists and your numbers

One switch keeps held messages out of your submissions list and out of the counts on your dashboard, so a spam wave never makes a form look busier than it is.

Hide spam and sales pitches above the submissions list

Decide what to do with a sales pitch

Someone offering you their own services, such as web design or SEO, is kept in its own tab and out of your inbox by default. Switch this to have them emailed to you instead, marked as a sales pitch, in case you sometimes want to hear from a supplier.

Decide whether to hear about suspected spam

Suspected spam is off by default, so you are not emailed or notified about it. Turn this on if you would rather see it than miss it.

In every form you build

These are settings on the form you are already editing. Each one names the control to look for, so you can go and turn it on.

Ask a question only when it applies

A field can sit out of sight until an earlier answer calls for it, so nobody reads a question meant for someone else.

Conditional Visibility on any field you pick in the builder

Split a long form into steps

One long page becomes a few short ones with Previous and Next between them. You name each step and choose which fields belong to it.

Multi-Step Form in the builder

Tell people what to fix in your own words

When an answer does not pass a rule you set, such as a required field or an email address, you choose the words someone reads in place of the browser's default wording.

Custom Error Message in the Validation tab of the field you picked

Let people finish later

Answers are saved as someone types, so a visitor who leaves half way through comes back to the form as they left it.

Save Partial Submissions in the form's Settings tab

Keep bots out

A hidden field catches the bots that fill in everything on a page, and we rate limit submissions so one source cannot flood your inbox.

Collect files with the answers

Add a file upload field and what people send is stored with the rest of their submission.

Match your own look

Set colors, fonts and spacing, save them as a theme, and reuse that theme on every form. There is a panel for your own CSS when you want to go further.

Send people to your own page afterwards

Give the address of your thank-you page and that is where someone lands once they submit. Leave it empty and they see your success message instead.

Redirect URL in the form's Settings tab (Pro and Business)

Decide which sites can use the form

List the sites allowed to submit it, and a copy of your form on somebody else's page is turned away.

Allowed Origins in the form's Settings tab

Say something back that fits what they answered

When someone finishes, they can see a result that fits what they said instead of the same thank-you message as everybody else. Write two or three results, mark which answers count toward each, and the form picks one.

What people see at the end in the form's Settings tab

The moment a form opens, the questions it asks next and the result at the end are three parts of one thing. See how they fit together.

One is built already: the Service Fit Quiz asks three questions and ends on whichever of its three results fits the person answering. Open it and change the questions and the wording to your own services.

When someone else helps with your forms

Most accounts are one person, and none of this is required. When you do want a second pair of hands, open the form and invite them by email from Settings. They get that form only, and you decide before they arrive whether they can also correct, download and delete its answers.

Give a colleague access to one form

Invite a colleague by email from the form's Settings tab. They get that form only, with its answers, and none of your other forms. Choose what they can do as you invite them. Can edit lets them change the form and read the answers, but they cannot correct, download or delete them. Full access lets them do all of that too.

Send Invite in a form's Settings tab, under Colleagues with access

Take access away when someone leaves

The Colleagues page lists each form you've given someone access to, who has it, and whether they have Can edit or Full access. Remove someone and that form disappears from their account the next time they load a page.

Remove beside each name on the Colleagues page, or in the form's own Settings tab
